Stories in Motion, Held Within Walls That Move

Location Brooklyn Museum, New York
Year 2023
Typology Exhibition Design
Size 12,000 ft²

This exhibition brings together the work of twelve contemporary artists to explore the complex impact of the Great Migration on their lives, as well as on social and cultural life. The exhibition is organized to create a space for retrospection and reflection for each artwork, with an immersive room featuring historical photographs of the Great Migration in Brooklyn, a recording booth, digital and physical interactive maps to engage with the visitors throughout the exhibit. The title walls and artist panels are designed as a movable modular system as a nod to the lasting impact of migration.

The exhibition is organized by the Mississippi Museum of Art and the Baltimore Museum of Art.
